I admit it -- I love chick flicks. Romantic comedies. Movies that get you all sniffly and warm-n-fuzzy as the credits roll.
While You Were Sleeping -- what's not to love? It's set in my hometown. (Better yet, in the winter. Only the brave dare to show Chicago when the lake's frozen over, Wrigley Field is snowed in, and the city isn't exactly postcard-pretty). Bill Pullman. A highly improbable, yet impossible-to-resist warm-n-fuzzy story. And Christmas!
When friends would come to town, they wanted to know where Lucy lived. And could we visit Peter's building? And howzabout dropping by the chapel where Lucy forgot to take off her winter coat before walking down the aisle?
So I had a new hobby. I put on my detective hat, put some new batteries in my digital camera, and made it my mission to find as many filming locations as I could. It was a lot of fun. And I hope, if you're a fan of the film and will be in Chicago, that you might want to drop by some of the places yourself. Who knows, maybe some of Lucy and Jack's magic will rub off on you.
